The book is aimed at youngsters, 2 to 5 years old to help them learn to count.

It has 24 pages full of glorious colourful pictures with Scilly backrounds, creatures, shells, birds Mammals and much more for your little ones to enjoy seeing what they can find in the pictures. There are 10 little scampish Border Terriers helping with the counting throughout the book as well as interaction pages at the back. All good fun. Can they find what is hidden on each page?

Just came across your Scillyold boatman strip while doing a bit of sorting in the bureau. What a wonderful surprise this has been! I hope all is well and that life is treating you well. I was so pleased to find out that some friends of yours are keeping the business running. I'm the woman with the American accent whose dad grew up on the Lizard.

Our Mum was billeted with my parents during the war in Truro. Prideaux and Phyllis Prideaux.
We all used to go to Scilly and stay with Ena Roseay(sp)
Your dad taught me how to make a Victoria sponge cake at Longstone Tec when I was about 11!
Just love the islands and trips out in Swordfish.
My dad named our boat swordfish !
Lovely to read your stories.
Sadly Scilly is beyond my budget to visit these days but so many happy fun memories of your family.

John Bourdeaux gave us a piece of his pottery as a wedding present, it has caused a lot of amusement over the years as to whether it was a shag or a cormorant. We obviously voted for shag. Having read your specifications I do think it actually is a shag apart from the problem of the white bit and the colouring of the beak ...... I think some artistic licence has been used, so I'm still voting shag. We have had so much fun over the years of debating where is the best place to have a (pottery) shag in the house, at present it is in the conservatory.

My first ( of 50+ now) trip to Scilly in 1970 involved a trip out to the Bishop on Swordfish ll with Lloyd Hicks ....your father?
The tide was very low and we saw so many seals and birds. Lloyd was so entertaining. We also delivered and received mail for the keepers - (this was years before landing pads and automation )using ropes somehow. I fell in love with the islands that day and have been visiting ever since. My parents ashes are there and that's where mine will be too.

We've been visiting Scilly for years, but can still remember some of your banter from our first visit, in the late 80s as I recall. E.g. count the tail feathers in order to distinguish a shag from a cormorant. I also recall a fairly lumpy trip out to the Bishop, not with you I hasten to add, and we were forced to listen to the seemingly interminable history of the lighthouse as the skipper took us round and round and round, and my wife and son's faces went greener and greener and greener. I've often wondered if he was being a bit mischievous, and reading some of your stories makes me think he was! Thanks!
